I am a New York Photographer. My neighbourhood is the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. It is bounded roughly by Frederick Douglass Boulevard, St. Nicholas Avenue, and Morningside Park on the west; the Harlem River and 155th Street on the north; Fifth Avenue on the east; and Central Park North on the south.
My name is Donn Thompson | Dracinc. I'm a Harlem-based Photographer who travels around the globe for work while enjoying all the beautiful things and locations Harlem has to offer: New York City, Times Square, The East Side, The West Side, and More.
The Greater Harlem area comprises several other neighbourhoods. It stretches from the Hudson River in the west to 155th Street in the north, the East River in the east, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Central Park, and East 96th Street in the south.
Harlem was initially predominantly occupied by Jewish and Italian Americans during the 19th century. However, African-American residents arrived mainly during the Great Migration in the 20th century. In the 1920s and 1930s, Central and West Harlem were the centres of the Harlem Renaissance, a prominent African-American cultural movement.
During the Great Depression of the 1930s and New York City's deindustrialisation after World War II, job losses led to a significant increase in crime rates and poverty. However, in the 21st century, crime rates have significantly reduced, and Harlem has experienced a resurgence.
The five boroughs of New York City are Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania
